Title: 2008 EPA M2M GRANT: Feasibility Study for Recovery and Utilization of Coal
Mine Methane in Jharia, Bokaro & Raniganj Coalfields in India
Project
Description: This
grant was awarded to conduct a feasibility study on the recovery and utilization
of coal mine methane in the Jharia, Bokaro & Raniganj coalfields in India.
Objectives:
This project would provide data on coal mine methane/ventilation air methane/abandoned
mine methane in key gassy coal regions of India. The ventilation air methane data
would come from 10 working mines. There would also be an analysis of production
potential and cost-effectiveness of a range of utilization technologies in these
mines.
